Philadelphia Teachers Are Gathering to Rewrite NCLB and
Plant Trees: May 16
Center City, Philadelphia, PA. May 16th, 2009 : K-12
teachers, professors, lecturers, and assistant teachers
are meeting to identify significant issues in education as
a result of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and to develop a
practical plan to resolve them. At the same time the
attendees will be supporting the Seed-Our-Future program
by using this event to plant more trees in deforested
areas of the world as part of a fundraiser held on the
16th at this event.
The findings of this congress will comprise the
contribution of Philadelphia area educators to The
Declaration for Equity and Excellence in Education. The
Declaration will provide guidance and practical advice
from the subject matter experts of education, those that
teach. This document, authored by educators from the
USA,, Canada, and 21 other countries when completed will
be presented to the US Congress and Senate, and brought
to the attention of President Obama and his
administration. The Declaration was begun in July 2008 in
San Francisco, expanded in November 2008 in Tarrytown, NY
and after its expansion in Philadelphia will make its way
to Seattle, Santa Fe, Denver, and San Francisco before
September 2009. Details can be found at
