    Post: thoughts on Keystone test?
Posted by: Pa Teacher on 8/13/09

What are your thoughts on the decision that was made today
to replace the PSSA tests with the Keystone tests. I am not
a fan of the PSSA tests because a lot of students don't
take them seriously, and I find that teachers are teaching
to a test rather than teaching students how to think
critically. I'm not sure what I think about the new
Keystone test requiring students to pass or not graduate. I
understand it addresses the issue of students blowing the
test off, but it doesn't address the issue of teaching to a
test. Also, many students are not great test takers and as
a teacher I am a firm believer of differentiated
instruction. I see many good students who aren't good test
    takers being hurt by this.

    Any thoughts?
