It certianly is possible, you need to check your contract, which you
should have a copy of. Our contract provides us with a duty free planning
period and lunch. However, I am in middle school and we have team meeting
4 out a 6 day cycle. On the days we do not have a meeting, we do
sometimes have to cover another class, but this does not take the place
of our planning period. We do not get paid. Our school mostly uses the
subs that are already in the building to cover any teachers who do not
have a sub, have to leave sick, etc.
