Re: MD certified looking to get PA certified
Posted by: WV Certified on 9/17/09
I agree that I've found out that PA has tough certification
requirements. I taught in WV for three years and then my
husband was promoted in his company and we moved to PA. I
thought my WV certificate would easily be reciprocal in PA, but
it was a long process. After getting the background checks, and
retaking their Praxis Tests (same information but different test
as I had taken for WV), plus some other paperwork...It took 6
full months for them to review my application. They questioned
my student teaching too, because they couldn't find it on my
transcript at first. They probably would want you to have
that.
Dont' get discouraged, give it a try...but be prepared for a
long wait. In-state applications get taken care of first, then
the out-of-state applicants!
