you can find a job in human resources. I know of several
places in PA that are in desperate need of people because the
job turnover rate is extremely high. Residential facilities
are looking for youth counselors who work with very troubled
youth from the ages of 7-21. These kids have been taken out of
their homes for a variety of reasons ranging from abuse,
truancy, no family.
Most of these jobs will require you to work 2nd shift, and the
pay is absolutely terrible...Many start at 11 an hour and you
receive yearly raises of about 10 cents! But it is great
experience and something to be proud of on a resume. But
remember, the money is terrible and you will be dealing with
some of the roughest kids out there. They will train you in
safety crisis management because it is very common for these
kids to try to attack staff, or other kids and you must be
trained to defend yourself in a manner that is safe for the kid.
The stress level, poor pay, and hours on the job is what makes
the turnover rate incredible high. Also, in order to work at
these places all you need is a high school diploma, so you will
realize real quick the type of people who work at these places.
Many of the employees who work at a residential treatment
facility and stick around usually are people who have many
issues themselves, and they can be just as bad as the residents
you are looking after.
