Post: HELP: Philadelphia Science Curriculum
I am a teacher in a Philadelphia charter school. The only
Science textbook we have is Scott Foresman Sciece Discover
the Wonder. We have to use the Philadelphia core curriculum
guide to write our long range plans for the year. When
looking online at the core curriculum, is Matter Matters a
textbook that the school district is using? If so, is it
possible to purchase this book online? I would need the
publisher etc. I have taught 1st grade in private school
(for 2 yrs) but we never had to formally teach science or
social studies. We concentrated on math reading language
arts spelling and cursive writing. (Yes we taught 1st
graders how to write in cursive). In 2nd grade the
concentration was on reading math science social studies
language arts and spelling. We did social studies and
science projects in 2nd grade (I taught 2nd grade for 14
years in the same school). Any help would be greatly
appreciate. I do have a Science Cut & Paste book put out by
Teacher Created Resources that has a number of cut and
paste worksheets and other activites that build on content
knowledge that I plan to incorporate. Thank you for the
advice.
